DEPUTY AND CITIZEN SHOT IN PARKING LOT ON MARICAMP RD. We need your help.
On December 10, 2023, at approximately 2:15 a.m., a shooting occurred outside of Club Time, located at 9355 SE Maricamp Road. During the shooting, Marion County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kenneth Warner and a citizen, Ricard Brown, were shot. Deputy Warner and Brown are expected to recover fully from their injuries.
We know that there were over 100 individuals in that parking lot; someone saw something. Please find the courage to come forward and let us know if you saw anything suspicious or have any information about who may be responsible. The Florida Sheriff’s Association, in partnership with the Florida Office of the Attorney General, is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for a tip that leads to an arrest. If you wish to remain anonymous, a reward of up to $3,000 is available through Crime Stoppers of Marion County for any tip that leads to the arrest of the individual responsible for the shooting. For Information in the UNSOLVED MURDERS of Kent Patterson Jr. & Kenneth Carr Jr.
Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Major Crimes detectives continue to investigate the unsolved murders of 16-year-olds Kent Patterson Jr. and Kenneth Carr Jr. They are asking for the community’s help in bringing those responsible to justice.
On Saturday, August 6, 2022, at approximately 1:48 a.m., MCSO deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 4700 block of W. Highway 318 in Citra. Upon arrival, deputies located Kent Patterson Jr. deceased inside the residence from a gunshot wound.
Several months later, on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, Kenneth Carr Jr. was found deceased at Campground Cemetery, located at 8565 NW 130th Street in Reddick. Responding deputies determined Carr had been shot. His body was discovered next to the grave of Patterson.
Major Crimes detectives have conducted extensive investigative efforts and continue to pursue all leads; however, they believe members of the community may still have critical information needed to solve these cases.
Each case now offers a reward of up to $9,500 for information that leads to the arrest of the individual or individuals responsible. Crime Stoppers is the only way for the public to anonymously report information that leads to an arrest and be eligible to receive a reward.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Marion County anonymously at (352) 368-STOP (7867) and reference case numbers 22-45 (Kent Patterson Jr.) or 22-63 (Kenneth Carr Jr.).
In addition to the $3,000 rewards offered by Crime Stoppers of Marion County, enhanced rewards of up to $6,500 is available through the Florida Association of Crime Stoppers, in partnership with the Florida Office of the Attorney General. The additional monies are available through June 30, 2026. The anonymous tip MUST come through the Crime Stoppers program and lead to the identification and arrest of the unknown suspect(s) in order to be eligible for the enhanced reward.

Crime Stoppers is a country wide program designed to assist law enforcement agencies solve crimes.
The program provides an anonymous tipline, web and text tipping to encourage citizens in the community to provide information to assist law enforcement agencies fight against crime.
Crime Stoppers is based on the principle that “someone other than the criminal has the information that can solve the crime” and was created to combat the three major obstacles faced by law enforcement in generating that information:

- An attitude of apathy

Callers will remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00 if the information provided directly to Crime Stoppers leads to an arrest, the recovery of stolen property or the recovery or seizure of any illegal drugs or narcotics.
